The first major concrete pour has been completed for the new acute services building of the $53 million Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment.
The redevelopment will deliver a new facility housing an expanded emergency department and a modern birthing, maternity, and inpatient unit, enhancing healthcare and supporting contemporary models of care.
Construction is progressing, including the demolition of the former maternity wing, earthworks, and piling, setting the foundation for the concrete base totalling nearly 500 cubic meters delivered in multiple pours.
Groundworks are nearing completion, and in the coming weeks, a mobile tower crane will be delivered to the site to support ongoing construction.
The design reflects the Gunnedah landscape, featuring contemporary, calming, and welcoming spaces developed in consultation with staff and the local community.
An Arts Working Group is ensuring the community’s long-held connection with the site is captured through arts and culture initiatives, enriching the patient and visitor experience.
Construction is expected to be completed by late 2025.
The redevelopment is being delivered by Health Infrastructure in partnership with Hunter New England Local Health District and supported by builder Richard Crookes Constructions.
