The new Bankstown Hospital has been bolstered by a funding boost from the NSW Government, marking a major step forward in delivering world-class healthcare for communities in south-west Sydney.
The first plans for the new state-of-the-art hospital have been unveiled today, which will deliver a new hospital and integrated health and inpatient services in the centre of Bankstown, with close connections to amenities and public transport, including the future Sydney Metro.
The additional funding commitment brings the total investment to $2 billion, making it the single, largest capital works investment in a public hospital in NSW’s history.
To be built on Chapel Road at the current TAFE NSW campus in Bankstown’s CBD, the new hospital will help meet the future health needs of one of Sydney’s growing regions, with the Bankstown area population expected to grow by 16 per cent over the next 15 years.
The Master Plan released today, provides the community with a look at the plans for the new hospital, including the location of the new multi-storey hospital building. Zones have also been identified for carparking and future expansion of health services.

The new hospital will integrate with the existing Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, which will remain as a health facility, to deliver a better healthcare experience across a broad range of community-based health services in south-western Sydney.

While a number of courses and facilities will continue to operate on the existing site, TAFE NSW will relocate most of its training delivery for the next five years to the new Western Sydney University Tower, across the road from the existing Bankstown campus.
