Construction is under way for the next stage of the Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment, which will deliver enhanced health services for the local community.
The NSW Government is investing $45 million in Stage 3 to create a more integrated health facility for patients, staff and visitors. The project includes:
To mark the milestone, three Old Man Saltbush trees were planted outside the future community health space, which is being delivered as part of the project.
The project team consulted local Aboriginal horticulture specialists in the planting of the trees, which reflect the local Aboriginal heritage and were traditionally used by Aboriginal people as bush tucker.
Construction will start on the operating theatre followed by the community health area. Works on the sterilising department will take place when the new operating theatre is complete.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2027.
The project is being delivered by Hunter New England Local Health District and Health Infrastructure with Richard Crookes Constructions as the principal contractor.
