Blacktown’s new Superstation officially opened

Blacktown Superstation, part of the NSW Government’s record $150 million ambulance infrastructure boom, is officially open.

Currently home to 42 staff, Blacktown superstation will have capacity for up to 22 emergency ambulance vehicles – 10 more than the old Blacktown station – and will have capacity for 175 paramedics, an increase of more than 130.

“It was a pleasure to officially open the Blacktown Superstation. We are extremely proud to be delivering new stations all across the Sydney area together with NSW Ambulance,” said Health Infrastructure Chief Executive, Sam Sangster.

The NSW Government’s $150 million Sydney Ambulance Metropolitan Infrastructure Strategy (SAMIS) is the single biggest investment in Sydney’s ambulance infrastructure in the organisation’s 123-year history.

Blacktown superstation will be supported by two new Paramedic Response Point (PRP) facilities, including one under construction at Quakers Hill.

The hub and spoke Paramedic Response Network model will allow NSW Ambulance to put paramedics where they are needed most, helping them to respond when someone phones Triple Zero.

Nine modern superstations are being delivered as part of the SAMIS program along with new Paramedic Response Points.

The first Paramedic Response Point at Mortdale has also recently commenced operations, with Bonnyrigg to follow later in 2018.
