Designs unveiled for new Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation Facility

New artist’s impression images of the Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation facility have been released, providing a detailed look at the modern purpose-built facility located on the Maitland Hospital campus.

Part of the program designed to support mental healthcare reform across the state, the Facility is specifically planned to support a rehabilitation model of care. The facility will include three inpatient units – low secure and medium secure forensic units, and a rehabilitation and recovery unit.

The facility's design has been shaped by extensive consultation with staff, consumers, and community members to ensure it meets the needs of both consumers and the wider community.

All units will provide single bedrooms featuring ensuites, shared kitchen, dining and living areas, and contemporary indoor and outdoor therapy spaces.

The project also includes additional parking spaces for the new service to ensure that staff, visitors, consumer transport and the emergency services have easy access

The new Maitland Mental Health Rehabilitation facility is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $700 million Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program.

Community feedback is being invited and will help inform the next stage of design. Community members are encouraged to attend information sessions being held in late November.
