First designs unveiled for Nepean Hospital Palliative Care Unit

Designs for the new Nepean Hospital Palliative Care Unit have been unveiled, which have been shaped by feedback from communities and palliative care experts in Greater Western Sydney.

Designed to enhance patient comfort and support, the unit will feature contemporary palliative care bedrooms with ensuites, communal areas, meeting spaces, and flexible outdoor areas.

The new purpose-built unit will enable the Supportive and Palliative Care team to provide tailored support to patients and their families.

The design will provide natural light and privacy, with individual and communal outdoor balconies and gardens creating therapeutic spaces.

To be located on Level 7 of the Stage 2 tower of the  Nepean Hospital Redevelopment, the unit will offer convenience and accessibility, to support families and their loved ones.

Community feedback has helped shape the design, with home-like spaces and large private rooms planned, which can be personalised according to individual preferences.

The Nepean Hospital Palliative Care Unit is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $93 million for capital investment in the World Class End of Life Care Program, to enhance palliative care facilities across the state.  Other locations in the Program include Wyong, Orange, Tamworth, and Westmead.
