Latest designs for Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment released

The latest designs for the Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment have been unveiled with the community invited to provide their feedback.

The Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment will significantly enhance healthcare services for the region and meet the healthcare needs of the growing population.

The schematic design provides the next level of detail for the redevelopment, showcasing modern healthcare facilities and the expanded services to be delivered.

The redevelopment will include construction of a new two-level acute services building that will house an expanded emergency department, two inpatient wards featuring single and twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a new medical imaging service, and day surgery spaces.

In the 2024-25 NSW Budget, an additional $26.5 million was allocated to the Redevelopment, supporting the delivery of additional facilities including an operating theatre and procedure room, a Central Sterilising Services Department and a modern pharmacy, bringing the total funding allocation to $138 million.

Construction is expected to start in 2025, following the appointment of a main works contractor.
