.
In good news for emergency care in South Western NSW, artist impressions of the new Cootamundra ambulance station have been unveiled.

Health Infrastructure joined NSW Ambulance, the District, Council, local paramedics and political representatives to celebrate the event.

To be co-located adjacent to the Cootamundra Hospital on Boundary Road, the new station will feature facilities that are a major improvement on the current station.

Designed with input from local paramedics, the modern, purpose-built station will be tailored to local community needs and include:
  • Internal parking for up to four emergency ambulance vehicles
  • Administration and office areas
  • Amenities
  • Logistics and storage areas
  • Relief accommodation
  • Staff parking
  • Delivery and loading bay
  • External wash bay
Health Infrastructure, NSW Ambulance, the Murrumbidgee Local Health District and Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council are all working together to deliver this vital piece of infrastructure in Cootamundra.

Works are expected to begin on site by early 2020 following design finalisation and planning approval. The project is part of the NSW Government’s $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program and will help local paramedics better meet the region’s emergency medical care needs well into the future.

To date, 23 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations have been announced under the RAIR program. This includes completed stations at Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Ardlethan, Harden, Molong, Griffith, Kiama, Berry, Bay & Basin, Toukley, Wauchope, Hamlyn Terrace and Bathurst.
