First sod turned at the new Mudgee Health Service

Construction of the new Mudgee Health Service is underway, meaning residents are one step closer to having a state of the art hospital and community health services under the one roof.

The first ceremonial sod was turned onsite this week, kicking off the $70.2 million project.

Health Infrastructure’s Project Director, Katie Babula, is excited to get to work.

"There's a real buzz here at the hospital with contractors arriving, fences and signage going up and equipment in place", she said. “We’ll be focusing on preparing the site over the next little while, with a program of demolition and the construction of temporary accommodation for health services," she said.

When complete, the hospital will offer a range of services including emergency care, general medical and surgery, maternity, ambulatory care, dental, renal dialysis and oncology.

Main works construction will commence following planning approval.
