First sod turned for $30 million Dubbo Hospital Car Park project

27 April 2021

The first soil has been turned to celebrate the start of construction for more than 350 new car park spaces at Dubbo Hospital which will future-proof access to hospital parking for decades to come.

The exciting milestone follows the announcement that Hansen Yuncken won the construction tender to deliver the $30 million Dubbo Hospital Car Park Project.

NSW Government is increasing parking capacity on the hospital campus to support the hospital’s more than $276 million expansion and upgrade of services which includes the four stages of the Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment and Western Cancer Centre.

Once the project is completed, there will be almost 1,000 car spaces on campus.

Since the tender award in March, Hansen Yuncken quickly mobilised workers to establish the site, and construction started last week on the ground level car park near the hospital’s newly opened main entrance.

The south eastern car park will deliver 46 spaces to patients and visitors.

Hansen Yuncken will soon start work on a new multi-storey car park on the western side of the campus for staff and patients which will deliver a further 321 spaces.

In addition to a dedicated staff parking area, the multi-storey car park will also provide convenient parking for patients seeking life-saving treatment at the new Western Cancer Centre which is opening later this year.

The project also includes infrastructure upgrades such as roadways, footpaths, hospital access, lighting, security and artwork on the façade of the multi-storey car park.

Construction of the Dubbo Hospital Car Park project is expected to take 12 months to complete.
