Plans revealed for Coffs Harbour Hospital Expansion

Schematic designs have been unveiled for the $156 million Coffs Harbour Hospital Expansion.

Hospital staff, volunteers, representatives from the Mid North Coast LHD and Health Infrastructure gathered around as the sheets were whipped away to reveal the latest images for the project.

The new four-level building will be positioned immediately in front of the existing hospital entrance and emergency department, expanding acute care capacity and providing easy pathways between the new and older buildings.

The project includes an expanded emergency department, enhancements to the existing operating theatres in addition to new theatres, a short stay surgical unit, orthopaedic and vascular unit and an expansion to facilities for ambulatory care and community health services.

“Our intent is to service the needs of the Coffs Harbour and surrounding communities both now and well into the future,” said Rebecca Wark, Executive Director Rural and Regional at Health Infrastructure.

“To date, more than 400 people – hospital staff, clinicians, volunteers, consumers and members of the community – have helped inform and shape the planning of this significant addition to the hospital site.

“The redevelopment demonstrates the successful partnership between Health Infrastructure, the Mid North Coast Local Health District and the local community.”
