Schematic designs for the new $73 million Macksville Hospital Development were unveiled last week, providing insight into what the finished hospital will look like.

“The schematic designs for the hospital are an exciting step toward the development of a contemporary facility for the local community. They are the result of a collaborative effort between Health Infrastructure, the Mid North Coast Local Health District and local user groups,” says Project Director at Health Infrastructure, Mark Brockbank.

The new hospital will be built on a ‘greenfield’ site, located three kilometres north of the Macksville town centre. Read a previous story announcing the new site.

The Macksville Hospital Development seeks to address the unique health challenges faced by the local community, due to its significant aged and Aboriginal population.

It will enhance patient care, whilst also improving ambulatory care and outpatient treatments. Clinical services will include:
  • a new emergency department
  • new inpatient units
  • new theatre and procedure room
  • new maternity services
  • enhanced community and allied health facilities
Early works at the site are expected to commence later in the year.
