Premier Gladys Berejiklian visited Shoalhaven Hospital today to announce tenders had been called for the $9.8 million parking upgrades, increasing the hospital’s parking capacity to 550 spaces.
"This is a terrific opportunity for Health Infrastructure to work with Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District to deliver much needed infrastructure to create additional parking and enhance current parking facilities for patients and staff at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital," said Project Director at Health Infrastructure, Chris Horton.
In addition to the five split-level multi-deck car park to be built on the health campus, an additional 60 ground-level car parking spaces will also be delivered.
As part of planning for the car park upgrade, the hospital has undertaken master planning for the entire hospital site to ensure any future hospital enhancements and expansion on the campus will not be compromised.
Construction is set to begin on the ground-level parking in mid-2018, shortly followed by work on the new multi-storey car park.
