More than $700 million has been committed for Blacktown and Mount Druitt hospitals redevelopment over two stages.
Stage 1 of Blacktown and Mt Druitt Hospitals delivered high priority clinical services, including a comprehensive cancer centre for treatment and additional acute beds.
OVERVIEW
Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital Redevelopment Stage 1 was the first stage of major upgrades to the hospital campuses. The overall redevelopment project will see the Blacktown campus transformed from a community hospital that has served the local area well for many years, into a major metropolitan health facility servicing the growing north-western suburbs of Sydney.
SCOPE
The project included:
Blacktown Hospital
- new inpatient building adjacent to the existing hospital and linked by a fully-enclosed hospital street
- 170 additional beds (including chemo chairs)
- additional outpatient clinics
- new in-centre renal dialysis unit
- new comprehensive cancer centre
- additional cardiac catheterisation capability
- future provisioning for a nuclear medicine service
- expanded medical imaging, pharmacy, pathology and central sterilising services department
Mount Druitt Hospital
- 10 additional beds
- expanded sterilising service
- new main entry
- new urgent care centre
- additional eight oral health chairs
