The NSW Government has committed $121 million to Stage 1 of the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Redevelopment.
OVERVIEW
The Hornsby Hospital Clinical Services Building, named the STAR building (Surgical, Theatres, Anaesthetics and Recovery), links with the existing hospital facilities. The facility has been designed for the provision of future stages. Approximately 100 additional car park spaces have been provided as part of this project.
The final component of this project includes medical imaging and paediatrics (cold shell) which is being delivered as part of the Stage 2 project. Ancillary works were completed in November 2016 and included the demolition of an old theatre, car parking works and a covered linkway between parts of the campus.
SCOPE
The project delivered:
- new Clinical Services Building
- eight new theatres, including one dedicated endoscopy procedure room and master planned for up to 10
- peri-operative spaces sufficient to implement the high volume short stay model of care
- three inpatient units of 28 beds configured as 12 single rooms, two four bed bays and four two-bed bays
- new sterilising services department
- new kitchen
- pathology service
- accommodation for a new supply and docks area.
