The Port Macquarie Hospital expansion provides increased capacity, a greater range of services and improved facilities for patients.
OVERVIEW
The Port Macquarie Hospital expansion had a capital budget of $104 million, with $8 million funded by the NSW Government and $96 million from the Australian Government’s Health and Hospitals Fund.
SCOPE
The project delivered:
- new Emergency Department including 14 additional treatment bays and separate paediatric area
- eight bed emergency medical unit for short stay admissions
- six new theatre operating suites to replace the existing four theatres
- new interventional theatre
- two new procedure rooms
- 34 bed theatre recovery unit increased from the current eight •A new cardiac catheterisation laboratory
- 24 new beds for the critical care ward
- 30 new inpatient bed ward
- 12 additional surgical beds
- relocate existing 15 bed paediatric ward to the new building
- new central sterilising services department
- shell space for potential future expansion of pathology, imaging, pharmacy, renal dialysis unit, ambulatory care and outpatient clinics.
