Health Infrastructure is delivering 54 new, rebuilt or upgraded NSW Ambulance stations as part of the Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program to provide local paramedics with modern, fit-for-purpose infrastructure to better meet the emergency medical care needs of communities in regional and rural NSW.
OVERVIEW
Health Infrastructure is delivering the Rural Ambulance Reconfiguration (RAIR) program.
The RAIR program is the single largest investment in regional NSW Ambulance’s almost 130-year history, with 54 new, rebuilt or upgraded ambulance stations being delivered in rural and regional NSW, to support the delivery of enhanced out-of-hospital emergency medical care to the community.
The NSW Government is investing $232 million to deliver the Rural Ambulance Reconfiguration (RAIR) Stages 1 and 2 programs.
BENEFITS
The program will:
- Deliver purpose-built ambulance stations designed provide a better working environment and meet the operational needs of NSW Health’s highly trained paramedics
- Allow local NSW Ambulance paramedics to better meet the current and future demand for emergency medical care in regional and rural NSW with new and improved infrastructure.
SCOPE
The RAIR Stage 1 program includes:
- 24 rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations, including stations at Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Ardlethan, Harden, Molong, Griffith, Kiama, Berry, Bay & Basin, Toukley, Wauchope, Hamlyn Terrace, Bathurst, Pottsville, Yass, Rutherford, Bungendore, Cowra, Grenfell, Goulburn, Birmingham Gardens, Cootamundra, Sawtell and Iluka.
The RAIR Stage 2 program (underway) includes:
- 30 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations, including stations at Armidale, Blayney, Bomaderry, Bulahdelah, Casino, Coffs Harbour, Coleambally, Woy Woy, Evans Head, Fairy Meadow, Forster, Glen Innes, Gloucester, Jindabyne, Kingscliff, Lake Cathie, Lockhart, Macksville, Manilla, Medowie, Mudgee, Narooma, Old Bar, Stockton, Tamworth, Taree, Tea Gardens, Tenterfield, Tumut and West Wyalong.
