Health Infrastructure is planning to redevelop Cessnock Hospital to meet the healthcare needs of the community.
OVERVIEW
The Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment will deliver a contemporary facility that supports the latest models of care and improved functionality in a welcoming environment, to meet the healthcare needs of the community now and into the future.
The NSW Government has committed $138 million to the redevelopment of Cessnock Hospital.
BENEFITS
The project will:
- Meet the growing and changing health care needs of the local community
- Support contemporary models of care, specifically integrated care for older residents with chronic illnesses
- Enable virtual care
- Efficiently support the network of health services in the Lower Hunter region
- Improve the efficiency of staff and patient flows
- Provide culturally appropriate facilities
- Provide a welcoming andsafe work environment to attract and strengthen workforce
SCOPE
The project scope includes a new two-level acute services building on the Cessnock Hospital campus that will house:
- an expanded emergency department
- operating theatres and day surgery spaces
- two new inpatient wards, featuring single and two-bed patient rooms with ensuite bathrooms
- sterilising services unit
- a new medical imaging service
- a modern pharmacy
