Health Infrastructure is overseeing the redevelopment and refurbishment of palliative care facilities across NSW as part of the World Class End of Life Care Program.
OVERVIEW
Several Palliative Care facilities will be redeveloped or refurbished as part of the World Class End of Life Care Program which is being delivered by Health Infrastructure.
Nepean, Orange, Tamworth, Westmead and Wyong have been confirmed as sites for the program.
Early planning is underway for the announced sites and clinical scope and construction timeframes will be confirmed as planning progresses.
The NSW Government has committed $93 million for capital investment in the World Class End of Life Care program to redevelop and refurbish palliative care facilities across NSW.
BENEFITS
The program will:
- Deliver more palliative care beds for people requiring short-term, high-care beds in rural, regional and metropolitan hospitals
- Improve access to palliative care in Western Sydney with two new, dedicated palliative care units in Westmead and Nepean
- Boost hospital capacity and implement best-practice models for supportive and palliative care
- Improve access to pain management services for patients with life-limiting illness, to help patients and their family and carers
- Improve services for people with late stage chronic and degenerative conditions, and cancer
- Support consumer choice and excellence in end-of-life and palliative care
- Strengthen virtual care, transport and equipment programs.
