NSW Government - Health Infrastructure Home

Health Infrastructure

Health Infrastructure was established in June 2007. Our role was identified as the delivery and management of major capital works projects and programmes of projects $10M and above on behalf of NSW Ministry of Health.

Health Infrastructure is supported by an Executive Board who provide overall strategic guidance in the delivery of major health projects for the state and reports to the NSW Ministry of Health Director General. The Board Members each offer specialised expertise in areas of health and infrastructure delivery.

NSW Health System

The NSW public health system provides comprehensive health services to the people of NSW. It includes 251 hospitals servicing over 1.5 million in-patients annually. The annual budget is $15 billion dollars in 2009-10 and the system employs around 95,000 staff.

The public health system consists of a large number of organisations operating under various legislation, including the NSW Ministry of Health, 15 Local Health Networks (LHNs), Justice Health, NSW Ambulance Service, a variety of Public Health Organisations, the Cancer Institute (NSW), and a range of affiliated health organisations managed by charitable or religious groups.
