The Key Worker Accommodation (KWA) Program is a NSW Government program that aims to provide modern and sustainable short-term and long-term housing accommodation to health workers in regional and rural areas across NSW due to slow development rates, increasing demand, and limited supply of housing options in these areas.

OVERVIEW

The NSW Government is investing $45.3 million to deliver modern, sustainable accommodation for health workers in Far West, Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW Local Health Districts.

BENEFITS

The project will:

Attract more health workers to rural and regional hospitals
Provide new, fit for purpose, self-contained accommodation
Provide fully furnished accommodation and a safe and comfortable environment
Provide spacious units and landscaping
Be located on hospital grounds
Establish a community within a community allowing spaces for staff to connect with each other
Offer fit for purpose accommodation to provide comfort, security and amenity for health workers
Support regions to attract and retain staff in rural communities
Avoid high costs associated with provision of ad-hoc, temporary accommodation

SCOPE

The KWA program will deliver accommodation for health workers within the hospital grounds at:

Balranald and Broken Hill (Far West Local Health District)
Cooma (Southern NSW Local Health District)
Finley, Leeton, Narrandera, and West Wyalong (Murrumbidgee Local Health District)
