HI formalised its commitment to reconciliation with the launch of our Reconciliation Australia endorsed Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan in February 2023.
The Reflect RAP will formalise and strengthen our role in enabling meaningful action toward reconciliation. It is a framework to build on our existing relationships and previous positive experiences working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to achieve culturally appropriate outcomes.
This commitment will acknowledge our unique opportunity to listen to and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, partners, and community members as we plan and design culturally safe health facilities across NSW.
The title of Reflect for this RAP is also significant for HI, as it will call for our people and our partners to stop, listen deeply, and reflect on how we support reconciliation in way that is action focused and real. It includes four key actions areas – Relationships; Respect; Opportunities; and Governance, which are inspired by and build on the Reconciliation Australia guidelines.
