Grounded in truth, walk together with courage. What a strong theme for this year’s National Reconciliation Week that ran from 27 May to 3 June across Australia.
A time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, National Reconciliation Week encourages exploration of how we can contribute to reconciliation in Australia.
And celebrating this year’s theme,
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Stage 2 redevelopment builder, Watpac, hosted a special breakfast on site with guest speaker, and
Literacy for Life founder, Jack Beetson.
Addressing over 200 Watpac staff, workers and redevelopment team representatives, Jack spoke of the enormous contribution our indigenous population makes to the social character of Australia.
He shared valuable insights on the importance of reconciliation and of improving literacy rates among our indigenous population. As a champion of indigenous adult literacy programs across Australia, Jack affirmed that literacy changes people’s lives and gives them the choice to join an industry they love.
