Health Infrastructure is redeveloping the Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital in Camperdown to provide expanded clinical services to meet healthcare needs of the growing Sydney metropolitan community.
OVERVIEW
The RPA Hospital Redevelopment will significantly increase healthcare capacity for both metropolitan Sydney as well as NSW, meeting healthcare needs across the State as a leading Principal Referral Hospital.
As a complex brownfield campus, the redevelopment will deliver a comprehensive solution that maximises the capability and capacity of one of Australia’s leading quaternary hospitals.
The redevelopment will include a new hospital building and refurbishment of existing spaces. Once complete the RPA Redevelopment will deliver an expanded and enhanced Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, neonatal intensive care services, state-of-the-art operating theatres, medical imaging services and additional adult and paediatric inpatient ward accommodation.
The project will develop a whole of campus solution, which brings together new models of care, enabling technology and physical infrastructure to support service expansion and changes in service delivery.
Virtual care models will continue to be enhanced and build on the success of the RPA Virtual Hospital (rpavirtual) – the first virtual hospital in Australia, which opened in 2020.
As a significant precinct, the project will drive jobs and economic growth in the area. The NSW Government is investing $940 million to redevelop RPA Hospital.
