The NSW Government’s $1 billion commitment to the Nepean Redevelopment means a significant boost in health services and facilities for local communities.
Bringing first-class health care to the booming populations of Penrith and its surrounding areas, the expansion and upgrade will occur in two stages.
Stage 1 will deliver $550 million of contemporary, integrated clinical and community-based health services.
Centre-piecing Stage 1 will be a new 14-storey clinical services tower housing:
- a new, expanded emergency department
- over 12 new operating theatres
- 18 new birthing suites
- a new neonatal intensive care unit
- expanded and upgraded medical imaging
- new community health services
- over 200 overnight beds
- new helipad.
Stage 1 also includes the expansion of the Nepean Cancer Care Centre and a new $26 million multi-storey car park.
Construction commenced in 2019, and is being delivered in partnership with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
The $450 million Stage 2 of the Nepean Redevelopment will integrate with Stage 1, and include:
- an Intensive Care Unit
- Medical Imaging services and Nuclear Medicine
- an in-centre Renal Dialysis Unit
- cardiology services
- more in-patient beds including paediatrics
- clinical support services including Pharmacy
- staff education and training facilities
- community health facilities
- a new front of house and reception area.
Construction on Stage 2 will start following the completion of Stage 1.
