In great news for one of our busiest hospitals, schematic designs for Nepean Hospital’s $1 billion redevelopment have been unveiled.
Plans reveal the new 14-storey clinical services tower which, once complete, will be the tallest building in the Penrith area; bringing first-class health care to the booming population.
The expansion and upgrade will occur in two stages.
Centre-piecing Stage 1 is the new tower, which will house:
- a brand new, expanded emergency department;
- over 12 new operating theatres;
- 18 new birthing suites;
- a new neonatal intensive care unit; and
- over 200 overnight beds.
Stage 1 will also expand the cancer centre and deliver a brand new $26 million multi-storey car park. This will double chemotherapy chairs to 30 and provide over 600 extra parking spots.
Construction of the cancer centre expansion and car park is well underway and scheduled for completion next year.
Stage 2 planning has started and construction will follow Stage 1 completion.
