Nurses’ experience shapes John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct

Today, on International Nurses Day, we celebrate our amazing nurses, who make all the difference to the care and experience of patients, their families and carers.

International Nurses Day is celebrated 12 May, on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

On International Nurses Day, we acknowledge the compassion, care and commitment of nurses who lead the way in health, providing exceptional care for every person, every day.  We celebrate and appreciate nurses, and the important role of nursing across the world.

An important part of every project that we deliver is improving the facilities for nurses. On the John Hunter Health & Innovation Precinct this has includied the development of prototype rooms which allow nurses and staff to test how they will perform during a clinical situation.

These prototype room designs were made with the input of staff user groups who participated in almost 300 consultation sessions. Simulations in the prototype rooms have allowed nurses and staff to identify areas for improvement in room designs to ensure they are as usable as possible for the nurses and staff who use them.

To all nurses working with NSW Health, thank you for the difference you make to our communities.
