The location of the new Tweed Valley Hospital site has been announced

This week the location of the new $534 million Tweed Valley Hospital was announced on land to the west of Kingscliff. This site was selected from more than 30 potential sites across the region.

“Following an extensive search, we are confident that this is the right site for this new major referral hospital,” said Rebecca Wark, Executive Director, Rural and Regional, Health Infrastructure.

“It has 16 hectares of developable land above the Probable Maximum Flood level; which is a key challenge across the Tweed Valley.

“The site is close to the M1 and is easily accessed from across the region. There are panoramic views to Mount Warning and the Coast, which will support a healing environment; and there is enough space to develop a broader health and education campus over time,” Ms Wark said.

“Additionally, the location of the site opposite Kingscliff TAFE and between the residential areas of Kingscliff and Cudgen provides the opportunity to build on the existing urban infrastructure; as well as to leverage education partnerships”.

Around seventy per cent of the population of the Tweed Local Government Area is within a 30-minute drive to the new hospital.

The new hospital will bring hundreds of construction and health service jobs to the region.  Site works are expected to start once acquisition and planning approval processes are completed.

The integrated project team is working closely with clinicians and other staff to progress the planning for this exciting project.
