The new Broken Hill Community Health Centre is now on the road

The 42 modules that form the Community Health Centre, the centrepiece of the NSW Government’s $30 million Broken Hill Health Service Redevelopment, have started rolling into Broken Hill this week.

These modules when put together will form the outer layer of the Community Health Centre. Constructed off-site at Toowoomba, they are now being transported to their permanent location at Crystal Street in Broken Hill, where the structure will be built and fitted out.

“The installation of the modules is a key milestone in the project,” Project Director at Health Infrastructure, David Beddingfield said.

“Over the next few months all the services connections and internal finishes will be carried out ahead of handover to the Local Health District later in the year.”

The new integrated Community Health Centre includes a five-chair dental health facility, child, family and community health services and new Local Health District administrative centre.

The upgrade to Broken Hill Hospital also includes the reconfiguration of the hospital’s ambulatory care wing to expand cancer care services and consolidate waiting areas for patients.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2018 with refurbishment works to follow.
