Work will soon be underway at the
Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment site with Richard Crookes Constructions appointed the builder following a competitive tender process.
The redevelopment promises to enhance healthcare services and facilities for communities in Gunnedah and the Hunter New England region.
Hospital services will continue to operate onsite throughout the construction period, which follows extensive planning and design work carried out in collaboration with staff, stakeholders, and the community.
Early works are set to commence later this month, including the establishment of some temporary service locations.
The project will deliver a new acute services building featuring an expanded emergency department and a modern birthing, maternity, and inpatient unit. Additionally, a new main entry and reception will be created through the refurbishment of the former community health entry.
An Arts Working Group has been established to ensure that the new hospital environment reflects the heritage and culture of the region.
Main works construction is expected to begin in early 2024 and is expected to be completed by late 2025.
The redevelopment is part of the NSW Government's ongoing commitment to improving healthcare services in rural and regional areas.
