In exciting news for Sydney’s south east – the NSW Government’s $277 million St George Hospital redevelopment has won the Best Hospital Development Project Award, at this year's Australian Healthcare Excellence Awards.

The accolade honours and recognises the integrated project team's efforts and success in planning, designing and delivering a state-of- the-art, technologically advanced acute services building, that has increased services and improved hospital efficiency and patient outcomes.

Delivering a number of firsts in Australian healthcare, the hospital now provides significantly enhanced models of patient care to a growing community.

Advancements like cleanroom technology in surgical theatres have improved efficiency and contamination control for the hospital. While innovative patient hoist systems in intensive care have reduced manual handling injuries.

In testament to great planning and collaboration, construction on the project was completed not only six months ahead of schedule but also well under budget – all within a challenging live hospital environment directly above a fully functioning emergency department.

Built by Mutliplex, the St George Hospital redevelopment was delivered by Health Infrastructure in partnership with the Local Health District.

Congratulations to all involved across all stages of this award winning project!
