Sutherland Hospital’s new MRI machine arrives on site

Sutherland Hospital’s new world-class MRI facility is a step closer, following the delivery of a new 3T MRI machine.

It will be the first time the hospital has had its own dedicated MRI facility which will enable the service to be provided locally, reducing the need to transfer patients

The NSW Government is investing an additional $7 million to provide an MRI facility at Sutherland Hospital, building on the Government’s $81.5 million redevelopment of the Operating Theatre Complex, which is currently underway.

A newly released fly-through animation showcases the MRI and hospital redevelopment, which will enhance healthcare for the Sutherland Shire community.

The new service on track to open to patients in early 2023 after construction and operational commissioning is completed. The Sutherland Hospital Redevelopment is part of the NSW Government’s record $11.9 billion investment in health infrastructure over four years to 2025-26.

Construction of the Operating Theatre Complex is progressing well and targeted for completion in 2024.
