Schematic Designs for Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment - Stages 3 & 4

The schematic plans and artist’s impressions of the $150 million Stages 3 & 4 Dubbo Hospital Redevelopment were unveilled at Dubbo Hospital this week.

Stage 3 - a new inpatient unit - will be built above the Clinical Services Building. Construction is expected to begin early next year.

Stage 4 will replace the existing emergency department and existing medical imaging unit. It will include a new emergency department and short-stay unit, new medical imaging unit, new critical care floor (comprising coronary care/stroke and intensive care units and a cardiac catheterisation laboratory), new ambulatory care unit, new renal unit, new main entrance, drop-off zone and extra car parking.

The Stages 3 & 4 redevelopment follows the $91.3 million Stages 1 & 2 construction of the new Clinical Services Building, which was officially opened in January this year and which includes six new operating theatres, a maternity inpatient ward, a birthing suite and a day-only ward for surgical services.

Now, with the release of the schematic designs, staff and other community representatives will help determine the internal layout of the facility, from the design of patients rooms to the type of art they would like to see utilised.

Project user groups to determine the detailed design will be established in Dubbo in coming months, and a redevelopment roadshow will travel to Bourke, Walgett, Coonamble and Nyngan to allow these communities to have their say.
