RAIR sod turns at Kiama and Berry and Wagga Wagga officially opened

This week we have seen two sod turns and one official opening for the NSW Government’s $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Redevelopment (RAIR) Program.

Monday marked the beginning of construction on a new NSW Ambulance Station for Kiama and Berry’s first NSW Ambulance Station. On top of this, the Wagga Wagga NSW Ambulance Station was officially opened on Wednesday morning. These new stations will provide local paramedics with the modern facilities they need to deliver high quality mobile emergency care to their communities for years to come.

The stations will include parking bays, administration and office areas, amenities, logistics and storage areas, on site staff parking and a deliveries and loading bay.

"It was great to get our shovels dirty again this week to mark the commencement of construction on some more of our new Ambulance station builds,” said Senior Project Director at Health Infrastructure, Anthony Dimech.

Construction of Berry and Kiama is expected to be completed in late 2018, followed by a carefully managed fit-out and operational commissioning phase before paramedics transition into the facility.

To date, 22 upgraded, rebuilt or new regional and rural ambulance stations have been announced under the RAIR program, including completed stations at Wagga Wagga, Coolamon, Ardlethan and Harden. This represents the biggest regional and rural transformation of NSW Ambulance infrastructure in the organisation’s history.
