Designs for new $110 million Cowra Hospital unveiled

Thursday 1 September 2022

The Cowra community has been provided with its first look at designs for the new $110.2 million Cowra Hospital, which has been shaped by community feedback.

The hospital, which will be built on the existing site, will provide upgraded inpatient beds and new health services, including the hospital’s first CT scanner and ultrasound.

The designs showcase the hospital’s two-level design and features improved access and parking, new landscaped areas and enhanced views within the hospital.

The purpose-built health facility also provides enhanced connection to the local landscape and views, providing natural light through an internal lightwell to create a welcoming and supportive environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Street access from Liverpool Street will be maintained as part of the new hospital, providing a connection to the town centre and nearby medical services.

The new $110.2 million redevelopment will deliver:

  • emergency department

  • general medical and surgery inpatient ward

  • peri-operative service

  • maternity unit with a dedicated nursery

  • ambulatory care (services for outpatients)

  • oral health (dental clinic)

  • renal dialysis (dialysis treatment for outpatients)

  • oncology (chemotherapy treatments)

  • community and mental health services, including drug and alcohol services

  • tresillian inpatient beds for new mothers and their babies

  • CT Scanner.

The community is encouraged to share their feedback on the concept design and ask questions at a series of stakeholder and community information sessions with the project team.

You can find out more information about these sessions by visiting the project website: www.cowrahospitalredevelopment.health.nsw.gov.au.

Construction of the new facility is on track to commence in 2023.
