As administrator of guidelines (AusHFG) for planning and design of healthcare facilities across Australia and New Zealand, Health Infrastructure has shared the new guideline for the planning, design and construction of back of house services.
These guidelines are used by project and construction teams in Australia and New Zealand to inform planning decisions around back-of-house services including:
- food services
- linen services
- cleaning services
- waste management services
- facility management services
- supply services
- loading dock
- security services
- porterage / orderly / wardsperson services
- patient transport services
- fleet management services
- mail services.
Through extensive consultation with operational and technical experts, this new guideline was developed to incorporate contemporary and efficient operating models, and associated planning and design requirements.
