Principal contractor announced for Liverpool Hospital redevelopment

29 August 2021

Construction on the $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct will soon be underway following the appointment of principal contractor Lendlease to build the new Liverpool Hospital redevelopment.

The contract was awarded to Lendlease, following a competitive tender process.

The Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct will provide a significant boost in health services to south western Sydney’s growing population through an expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department, new maternity and paediatric inpatient beds and a doubling of capacity within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

The redevelopment will also feature a new Integrated Cancer Centre which will almost double chemotherapy treatment spaces, expanding capacity and improving access to essential health care services in the region.

Construction of a $50 million multi-storey car park for the Liverpool Hospital is already underway, with working being carried out by ADCO Constructions.

Construction of the new hospital will commence in the coming weeks.

Lendlease has a strong history of large-scale construction projects including hospital redevelopments across NSW including the completed Gosford Hospital redevelopment and a 2012 redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital and includes current work on the Randwick and Tweed hospital projects.

Completion of the new buildings as part of the Liverpool Hospital Health and Academic Precinct is expected in 2026.
