Health Infrastructure’s commitment to sustainability

World Environment Day, held annually on 5 June, brings together millions of people from across the globe, engaging them in the effort to protect and restore the Earth.

The United Nations international day puts a global spotlight on the pressing environmental challenges of our times, with this year’s theme reminding us that our actions on plastic pollution matters.

Redeveloping a hospital presents significant opportunities to support sustainability initiatives that align with NSW Health as well as Health Infrastructure’s Sustainability Commitment and Strategy

Health Infrastructure is working with Local Health Districts and contractors to identify ways to reduce waste at hospital redevelopments. This includes investigating innovative ways to recycle plastic at Westmead Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, such as through the collection of disposable face masks which is an initiative in conjunction with Western Sydney LHD, UNSW SMaRT Centre and Greater Cities Commission.

Find out more about Westmead Redevelopment - Stage 1A and 1B and The Children's Hospital - Stage 1 which is currently in delivery.
