Blacktown Hospital’s new Acute Services Building officially opened

Thursday 1 April 2021

Blacktown Hospital’s new nine-storey Acute Services Building, the centrepiece of the NSW Government’s more than $700 million investment in Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, officially opened today.

The redevelopment has provided a world-class new building for staff, patients and carers, and introduced state-of-the-art services with the very latest healthcare technology in the new intensive care unit and digital operating theatres.

Co-designed with community members, staff, patients and carers, the new building has set new benchmarks for clinical design and innovation.

The new emergency department was the result of five years of careful planning to provide the best space for staff and patients. The building can help change the way emergency medicine is delivered, with its separate adult and paediatric resuscitation bays.

In addition, the new emergency department will include a spacious waiting area, acute care, urgent care, short stay, bedside imaging and a dedicated section for mental health emergencies.

Stage 2 of the Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals Redevelopment is part of the NSW Government’s record $10.7 billion investment on health infrastructure across the state over the next four years.
