St George Hospital Birthing Unit & Operating Theatre tender award

15 May 2019
Health Infrastructure has awarded the tender to begin work on the NSW Government’s $11.5 million Birthing Unit and Operating Theatre refurbishment project at St George Hospital.
Beginning work in the coming months, the project is delivering new birthing suites with fit-for-purpose birthing rooms including water immersion facilities.
The St George Hospital birthing suite was built in 1972 and underwent upgrading in 1991. The 2017 opening of the hospital’s new Acute Services Building has enabled room for a new birthing suite to be developed on Level 2 of the Tower Block, which will ensure high quality care for the 2,700 births which take place at the hospital each year.
The work will also see the refurbishment of existing operating theatres in the hospital, which manage more than 17,500 surgeries for patients each year.

Building hospitals and healthcare facilities is a complex operation - find out more.
