New Ambulance Superstation for Sydney

Friday 4 September

A new NSW Ambulance Superstation for Sydney is one step closer following the unveiling of the designs for a state-of-the-art facility to be built at the site of the former Coroner’s Court of NSW at Glebe.

The superstation is the last of 12 ambulance stations to be built as part of the NSW Government’s $184 million Sydney Ambulance Metropolitan Infrastructure Strategy program.

Frontline staff are set to benefit from the centralised hub, which will provide enhanced capability for logistical functions such as cleaning and restocking of the vehicles, as well as space for paramedics to be trained.

Demolition of the old Coroner’s Court is expected to start in the coming months, as planning for the new Superstation gets underway.

Nine other new ambulance superstations have been built across Sydney at Artarmon, Caringbah, Northmead, Haberfield, Penrith, Blacktown, Bankstown, Liverpool and Kogarah.

Construction of a new superstation at Randwick and a new ambulance station at Mona Vale are currently underway.

As well as the 12 stations across metropolitan Sydney, the NSW Government is delivering 24 new, rebuilt or updated NSW Ambulance Stations as part of the Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration program, providing local paramedics with modern, fit-for-purpose infrastructure to better meet the emergency medical care needs of regional and rural NSW communities.
